Sometime last month, my son was to write an online university test by 9:30am. I thought it would be good to do this in my office. So, he packed his bag with his laptop, ear piece, the wireless router, mouse etc meticulously to ensure he did not miss a thing.
So off he went with his dad. 5 minutes later the young man showed up at the door. He had picked my napsack instead! Hmmm, I got him a new napsack exactly the same as mine and both bags were sitting side by side on the couch. I had put a bottle of juice in what I thought was his.
He felt a nudge to check his bag one last time before the car hit the road, and alas, it was my bag he picked.
It’s better imagined what could have happened if he gets to open that upon arrival at destination to discover the bag swap. The pressure, the shock, the regret, the misery, the sudden crumbling of the heavens, it is better imagined. Escaping this misery was my testimony that day. Indeed, the Holy spirit still whispers in that still small voice.
I learnt a lesson that day. Always do a double-check to be sure that you have made no mistakes or assumed wrongly. It may take a few seconds but that could save one from a very miserable situation. So before you step out of that door, you may need to do a double check to see if your electric iron is off, or your water tap is running, or the interview documents are complete, or your wallet is in your bag etc
Most especially when you get that gut feeling that you need to double-check something to be sure, please do not fight the urge. It could be a life saver.
